AVIA-GIS conducts first VECMAP on-tour in Crete

September 28th 2016

The first VECMAP on-tour workshop for this year has taken place in Crete in cooperation with the Medical School at the University of Crete, on 28th September 2016.

The workshop had 16 participants from different faculties of the University, the Natural History Museum of Crete and the 7th Health Region of Crete.

“The workshop was very successful…”, “…They appreciated the knowledge through the talks and presentations but especially through the practice of the VECMAP Lite software, the discussions and replies to all their questions.” Maria Antoniou, Assistant Professor of Parasitology, University of Crete, Medical School

During the workshop, participants learnt about VECMAP® , its added value to their work, and how to gear it to their specific needs. They also got a hands-on training on spatial modelling with VECMAP®Lite using their own VECMAP® Lite free software package.

Such workshops are a great opportunity to meet new people & exchange experiences with the participating specialists.

We thank the University of Crete for hosting this workshop and their hospitality, especially Prof. Maria Antoniou, Assistant Professor of Parasitology, University of Crete, Medical School

"VECMAP® on-tour" is the new Avia-GIS initiative to organize introductory workshops hosted by institutions throughout Europe which are at the heart of the action.

This workshop is one of several workshops to come that will take place in different countries until the month of April 2017. If interested, please express your interest by clicking on the link.
